Community Involvement
IWL recognizes that the skills, abilities and dedication of our employees contributes to our ongoing success. In addition to competitive wages, profit sharing and an extensive benefit package; IWL strives to create a clean, safe work environment that constantly encourages and challenges our employees to learn, grow and achieve both personally and professionally.
IWL gives back to the local community and encourages an attitude of volunteerism throughout the company. Various ongoing projects include:
Board membership, time and materials to establish and construct Farm in the Dell, a residential and vocational program for adults with developmental disabilities, located in a rural setting.
Senior IWL staff have held positions in various industry associations at local, provincial and national levels; including Chairman of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction; President of the Saskatoon Construction Association; Board members of the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission and Saskatoon Industry Education Council as well as committee participation for social events.
IWL believes in encouraging the interest of future potential trades people. Through job shadowing, work education placements and trade experience programs; youth and adult learners are given the opportunity to participate in hands on training in a shop environment. Successful partnerships with Prairie Spirit School Division, Gabriel Dumont Institute, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, YWCA and Saskatchewan Polytechnic have allowed students to experience welding, fabrication, equipment operation and drafting. We are proud to say that some of our current employees originally came to us through high school work education placements, returned to us as apprentices, attained their journeyman status with us and continue to work for us as valued employees.
IWL employees volunteer countless hours to their local community associations through board membership, special events co-ordinating and coaching hockey, football, baseball, soccer, TBall, bowling, basketball and speed skating.
